Today is the first night of Despacio at Wintercircus in Ghent, the hometown of David & Stephen. It took ten years since Despacio’s debut in Manchester, before the legendary soundsystem would come to Belgium.

So in order to celebrate this, here’s one of those defining Despacio tracks – if you have visited a Despacio night, you know why ‘Like An Eagle’ by Dennis Parker is one of the highlights of any Despacio night.

I personally love this track and the video above, looks like it was taken straight from the HBO-series The Deuce. Dennis, real name Wade Nichols, was a carpenter – porn actor – singer who’s boyfriend was Village People producer Jacques Morali at the time.

He died in 1985, only 39 years old of an AIDS-related illness.
