The singer has become a deejay

This is the third post of a series in which I look back at all the DEEWEE releases in a chronological order.

Released on December 4, 2015, Emmanuelle‘s EP is the first release on DEEWEE of an artist or band that does not include Dave or Steph.

But as the DEEWEE manifesto clearly states:

Every DEEWEE release is written, recorded or mixed in the building by David and Stephen Dewaele.

So how did Emmanuelle end up on DEEWEE?

This is what we read in the press release at the time:

Five years ago we met Emmanuelle in an office in Milano. For years we asked her to play us some of the music she’d been making on her laptop in her bedroom. When DEEWEE was built we invited the Rio born / Miami raised / Milano based artist to make some music together.

According to Maison Kitsuné ‘an office in Milano’ was the office of the pop culture magazine PIG, where Emmanuelle worked as an art director.

Emmanuelle would release another EP on DEEWEE, which became one of the most sought after (and now most expensive) releases on the label. But we’ll get to that later..

Even tough the 2015 press release ended with ‘This is the first of many things we’ve done so far…‘, it looks like Emmanuelle is no longer releasing her music on Dave and Steph’s label.
