Every Thursday I look back to the past
Twelve years before the release of ‘Belgica‘, Dave and Steph had already worked on a soundtrack for their friend and director Felix van Groeningen.
It was for his 2004 debut ‘Steve + Sky‘ featuring Titus De Voogd and Delfine Bafort.
The storyline (taken from IMDB.com):

He is a small-time crook recently released from prison and she is a prostitute craving some love and affection. They find each other in an obscure part of Gent. ‘Kawazaki’ is an alias for the original music that Dave and Steph composed for the movie. Although they were involved in the project, they admitted in this interview below it wasn’t easy to fit in their schedule back in 2004 because 2manydjs had blown up and they were constantly travelling all over the world.
Felix Van Groeningen: “The idea was to use only acts from the Benelux, so they gave us a list of songs they thought would work in the movie. But we noticed while editing the movie that we needed some extra music.”
Stephen: “So we made a couple of instrumentals as ‘Kawasaki’.”
David: “It was very stressful. I used to sneak out of the studio when we were supposed to be working on ‘Any Minute Now’, to go home and secretly work on the Kawasaki tracks for a couple of hours. My girlfriend had just moved from Ghent to New York and I was working from ten in the morning till five the next morning. I didn’t get much sleep at the time. But when I listen to the tracks we made for that soundtrack now, I still feel proud. I like them.”
