Probably one of my all time favorite Soulwax remixes and there’s a big chance you have never heard it before (unless you’re really into Soulwax).
This remix was released December 9, 2016 but only as a download and on streaming platforms. It never got a physical release (boooo) and I don’t think it was played a lot in the 2manydjs sets at the time. They did feature it in their 2×2 show on Apple Beats three weeks before the official release.
The reason I like this remix so much is because it has a very ‘pop’ feeling to it. Just like the original track, but it has a really great groove with a nice break near the end. I love putting this on my headphones when walking around town!
Warpaint is an all female band from Los Angeles. ‘New Song’ was taken from their third album. It was released on a single sided 7″… if only they had put the Soulwax remix on the b-side!
I don’t know why the band or label didn’t promote the remix more or why they didn’t bother for a physical release. The original was published on Youtube at the time of the release in 2016 and has over twelve million views while the Soulwax remix was published three years later and only has little over five thousand views.
