Every Thursday I look back to the past
Soulwax released their first EP ‘2nd Handsome Blues‘ on PIAS in 1995, one year before the release of the debut album ‘Leave The Story Untold‘. But in the same year a demo version of ‘Kill Your Darlings’ was released on this compilation CD. It is not the same version that was recorded by Chris Goss for the debut album.
Debuutrock was a band competition in Belgium. I don’t think they won, but at least they got their track on the album.
Bonus: the ‘Nick Edenetti’ version, which was the b-side of the ‘Kill Your Darlings’ single and is a slow version of the track. That one was recorded at Galaxy Studios in Belgium, not with Chris Goss either.
According to this interview Nick Edenetti was an American actor but also a Frank Sinatra impersonator who did a tribute show at the Las Palmas Theatre in Los Angeles around the time the band were recording their debut album over there.
