Every Thursday I look back to the past
Soulwax were on a roll in the mid 00s, especially after they unlocked their full “rock meets dance” potential by bringing ‘Nite Versions‘ live to all kind of stages. From dance clubs like Fabric in London to the main stages of Europe’s biggest festivals.
They would bring that hectic and crazy period to the screen with their ‘Part Of The Weekend Never Dies‘ documentary in the spring of 2008. But only six months earlier, in October 2007, Parlophone released ‘Most Of The Remixes‘ and the band quickly updated their live set and turned it into a ‘Most Of The Remixes’ live set, bringing most of their remixes live on stage with the same energy as their ‘Nite Versions’ sets.
I first saw their MOTR live set at a try out in the Bilbo Record Store in Antwerp. It was quite a small shop, so all the gear was crammed into that little space. And it was LOUD 🙂

I can’t really remember how many times I saw this set live. At least three times at Bilbo, Club 11 and at a VPRO 3VOOR12 showcase in Amsterdam. The footage of the VPRO showcase was the only full recording on Youtube for years thanks to “some guy” who uploaded it 🙂
All I do remember is that these shows were amazing. Though Daft Punk were touring the same year with their “Alive 2007” shows and also remixed and mashed up their own songs on (a much larger stage), Soulwax were once again ahead of most of the other dance/rock/electronic live acts at the time.
