TBT (26) : Nite Versions?

Every Thursday I Look Back To The Past

What’s wrong with this picture?

In less than twelve months after the release of Soulwax’ ‘Nite Versions‘, this CD was released in Japan in 2006.

It’s called ‘Alstromeria Records – Nite Versions‘ and the design is an almost exact copy of Trevor Jackson’s iconic design he made for Soulwax.

This artwork was made / stolen / credited to “Klik”, who also mastered the CD.

There’s a thick carbon outer sleeve around the CD though, which has a completely different cover image:

This illustration is credited to Kurehito Misako (aka ‘Cradle’).

To be honest, it’s a nice novely to add to the collection. A bit of research revealed all music was written by ZUN (Shang Hai Alice) and the tracks were arranged by Masayoshi Minoshima. It looks like this is what they call in Japan a ‘doujin’ release, which can be translated like something of an ‘amateur’ release (or made by a group of fans of a certain type of music, anime figure etc)

If you really want to know how the ‘alternative’ version of Nite Versions sound, be my guest 🙂
