Every Thursday I look back to the past.
In October 1999, one of Belgium’s first big internet providers, asked Dave and Steph for their ‘Eeltent Studio’ project. ‘Eeltent’, which is an anagram of ‘Telenet’ wanted to showcase that in the future it would be possible for artists to create and share tracks from different locations thanks to the internet.
So they had Dave and Steph in their studio in Ghent, Klaas Janszoon (violin) and Jules Deborgher (drums) from dEUS in Berchem, and the guys from Die Anarchistische Abend Unterhaltung (or DAAU) in Antwerp to make a track in a couple of days.
The result was this nice, quirky track with the uninipired title ‘Eeltent Studio Song’. It was the very early days of transfering files across the internet, we were still listening to audio online via RealAudio and mp3 was something very new at the time.
Dave and Steph got a big Compaq desktop computer from Telenet in return, which you can see in the picture above.
