Last February I started this blog, because I wanted to write about my 25 years of following Soulwax, 2manydjs, DEEWEE and everything else related to the work of David and Stephen Dewaele.
I felt that too much information, pictures and stories from the past were getting lost in the social media stratosphere. And there’s a whole new generation of fans (check our our Soulwax discord for that) who are just getting into the DEEWEE universe. And lo and behold: the original owner of the Soulwax.be domain name must have lost interest and I snapped it up. It kinda makes sense: Soulwax.info is my website that focuses on their discography (and it turned 25 years old in 2024!) where Soulwax.be is where you are reading the posts.
Looking at the blog right now, it’s obvious that there’s enough stories to be told. I wrote exactly 120 posts in 2024, here’s the top 5 of most popular blogs on the site:
2. Soulwax live at Het Depot (Leuven, BE – August 8, 2024)
3. Any Minute Now – 20th anniversary!
4. TBT (24): Dizzee Rascal and Armand Van Helden – Bonkers (2manydjs edit)
5. TBT (20): Most Of The Remixes Live
2024 was a good year for being a fan: I got to see Soulwax live eight times, witnessed the rise of Bolis Pupul’s fame and danced at Despacio in the hometown of Ghent. The only thing missing is what we hopefully will get in 2025: a new Soulwax record!
If you haven’t read all the blogs yet, here are some of the categories:
- News update: all news regarding Soulwax, 2manydjs and the artists on DEEWEE.
- TBT: every Thursday I look back to the past.
- Incomplete Inventory: I dive into the catalogue and dig into the instruments and gear owned by the Dewaeles, that was photographed for the book ‘Incomplete Inventory’ by Maxime Verret.
- DEEWEE catalogue: I take a look at the DEEWEE catalogue, on release at the time, in chronological order.
- 2manydjs classics: those classic songs you’ve dance to at one of their sets
Thanks for reading and hopefully we’ll see each other in 2025!
