Every Thursday I look back to the past.
It was facebook who reminded me earlier this week that fourteen years ago I was on the Soulwaxmas 2010 tour.
The first edition of Soulwaxmas took place three years earlier with a big ‘Radio Soulwax’ party at Flanders Expo in their hometown of Ghent. The following years Soulwaxmas evolved into a travelling circus of Soulwax, 2manydjs and friends and the parties took place in several different European cities.
But 2010 was the first year I got the opportunity to join the crew for all dates, accompanying photographer (and editor of Part Of The Weekend Never Dies) Kurt Augustyns. He took the pictures and the videos, I was in charge of their social media pages at the time on Facebook, Twitter… and MySpace.
Soulwaxmas 2010 tour:
- November 27: Eindhoven
- December 02: Barcelona
- December 03: Madrid
- December 04: Porto
- December 07: Milan
- December 11: Hasselt
- December 16: London
- December 17: London
- December 18: London
December 22: Zürich(this date was cancelled)- December 23: Paris
Besides Soulwax and a 2manydjs Under The Covers live set, other dj’s and bands on this tour were Erol Alkan, Boys Noize, Tiga, Busy Pictionairy (Busy P + So Me), Zombie Nation, MIXHELL, Zongamin, Paul Chambers, The Living Islands (aka Nid And Sancy), Drums Are For Parades and (a very young) Ego Troopers.
The videos we made are a nice testimony of those great shows:
Needless to say I had a blast, and it was a dream come true. To be able to attend all these nights all over Europe, meeting so many wonderfull people but also fans from all over the world.
