‘Much Against Everyone’s Advice‘, the second album by Soulwax, surprised a lot of people when it was released in 1998. It was a hug step forward from their debut album ‘Leave The Story Untold‘.
You could see that Dave and Steph had developed an artistic vision for the band and it reflected in many ways. The live show was a game changer (the backdrop made from CDs, the vintage suits, the mic stands with the lights in them, the CASIO guitar, …) but also the videos and the artwork for the album was amazing and still looks fresh more than twenty-five years lates.
On the enhanced version of the CD, you could not only rewind and find a hidden -1 track, if you put in into your big desktop PC (as we all had at the time) you would find this amazing game: ‘S.O.U.L.V.A.D.E.R.S.’
It’s their own version of the legendary ‘Space Invaders’ game, and it even includes and 8 bit version of ‘Much Against Everyone’s Advice‘.
The game was developed by Larian Studios from Ghent, where it was founded in 1996. Over the years, Larian Studios has become world famous for their video games. It is best known for developing the Divinity series and Baldur’s Gate 3.
