Burning Phlegm was one of the ‘fictional’ bands that David and Stephen created for the Belgica OST. But there’s a few interesting bits about this hardcore band. The members aren’t some random actors or friends.

You probably regonized Sepultura legend and current Soulwax drummer Igor Cavalera. Lead singer of Burning Phlegm is Lino Van Reeth, who used to be the lead singer of Dead Stop – a notorious Belgian hardcore band who were active from 2002. Lino is now known in the Ghent area for his popular Café Ventura at the Vrijdagmarkt.

Fellow Dead Stop guitarist Michiel Van Cleuvenbergen is also in the band. Both Michiel and bass player Jan Wygers play in Condor Gruppe. Wygers also played in bands like Creature With The Atom Brain, Hitsville Drunks, Mauro And The Grooms and owns the Sugar Pie Records store in Antwerp.
