After teasing with “All Systems Are Lying” last week, there’s finally some official news: Soulwax will release two new tracks on Wednesday, July 9. Those are “Run Free” and “All Systems Are Lying“.
“Run Free” is a more mellow, synth driven pop song (as we heard part of the track in yesterday’s live set at Rock Werchter), in which Stephen sings “I wanna run free with the music”.
“All Systems Are Lying” is a full on electronic banger, which has similar vibes to the tracks Dave and Steph have produced for Marie Davidson.

Last weekend Soulwax played two gigs (Turin and Rock Werchter), and David & Stephen also did two 2manydjs live shows. On Sunday night they closed the 50th edition of Rock Werchter as 2manydjs. But that show was so crazy, I am going to write a seperate post about it.
David and Stephen took the stage of Rock Werchter for the 14th time in their career, this time as Soulwax. I missed the try out in Liege and the show at Best Kept Secret earlier this month, so this was the first time I heard the new set.
A couple of the new songs (Polaris, Gimme A Reason, Hot Like Sahara, Idiots In Love, New Earth Time) were already on the setlist in 2024, but a few new were added: Run Free, All Systems Are Lying, Meanwhile On The Continent. All the new tracks sound amazing, they sampled lots of bits in the set: Work It, Wet Leg, but also a few notes from “Any Minute Now” and part of the Belgian classic “Diskow Moskow” by Telex (lyrics were changed to “Torhout Werchter” for this performance).
