Do you remember the intro of ‘Part Of The Weekend Never Dies’? You know, the part were Soko says the band travelled the world by plane, bus and ‘moootoooo compo!’ ?
That was true, because Dave and Steph owned a Honda ‘Motocompo’. It even had it’s own flight case to take it on the road.
You want proof? Here’s a picture of their motocompo, taken backstage at the Madrid Arena during the Soulwaxmas 2010 tour:
Steph drove the motocompo around the around the arena for Kurt to film it (until some Spanish security guards told us we had to cut it).
The footage ended up in the Madrid aftermovie, where Tiga explains it’s not really about the bike. But the most Spinal Tap thing is to actually discuss how they wanted to ship the bike and built a flight case to specifically travel around with the motocompo.
Still don’t know what I am talking about? Here’s some wiki info:
The Honda Motocompo is a folding scooter sold by Honda between 1981 and 1983 as a factory add-on only in Japan. It was the smallest scooter ever produced by Honda and it folded into a rectangle for easy storage.
Want to own one too? Good news! Honda has launched a new model and it will cost you around USD 1000. Oh you want the original one, that’s a bit more expensive I’m afraid.
