Only six months after her first release on DEEWEE, Italian musician Emmanuelle released a new 12″ on the label on May 27, 2016.
And by coincidence, the B-side of DEEWEE 015, would make it one of the most sought after and most expensive releases on DEEWEE to this day.
From the press release:
Emmanuelle returns to DEEWEE with an Italo influenced 12″ produced by David and Stephen Dewaele of 2manydjs / Soulwax and recorded at DEEWEE studio, Gent.
‘L’uomo D’Affari’ sees Emmanuelle swich between her native Italian tongue and English advising you to ‘not hide behind that suit and tie’.
If Tom Tom Club hung with Aphex Twin in the hills of Naples in 1980 they may have arrived here. ‘Italove’ is pure dancefloor magic. Syncopated rolling synths with Emmanuelle as chanteuse again cutting between Italian and English to the sound of disco and harps. It’s a beautiful thing. She loves you.
About two years after its release, “Italove” was used in the award winning movie “Dogman” (2018) and also featured on the official soundtrack. And as a result lots of collectors wanted to have the DEEWEE 015 vinyl, which had sold out by then.
The 12″ did not get a repress, but the track was included in the Foundations compilation (DEEWEE 050), on CD and LP. The track was streamed over 19 million times on Spotify.
Quite unexpectedly, this turned out to be the last release of Emmanuelle on the Dewaele’s label.
I saw her perform live once, at the Eurosonic showcase festival in 2020:
She has released more music since then, but not on a record label. This year she featured on a single by an artist called Diogo Strauz:
If you would like to get a copy of DEEWEE 015, expect to pay around 300 Euros on discogs:
