Beats 1 originally began airing on June 30, 2015 as the flagship curated music channel on the Beats Music streaming service from Beats Electronics, which had been acquired by Apple in 2014. Beats 1 replaced Apple’s existing iTunes Radio station than a year after Apple launched Beats 1.
In 2016 2manydjs got their own show on Beats 1 and called it ‘2×2‘. Five shows were made, including an episode dedicated to Yellow Magic Orchestra.
To promote these shows a trailer was made. A bit similar to the ‘Machine‘ movie, vinyl is cut up and boiled to create a fictional drug.
The trailer was made by the same team who made the animation for the Radio Soulwax hour ‘Benelux‘ and directed by Lewis Kyle White. In the background you can spot the limited 2manydjs Carlsberg can, the Ferrari Testarossa model and record sleeves that were used in the Benelux mix.
