2manydjs classics (1): Felix Da Housecat – Silver Screen, Shower Scene

I like to take a look back at the songs that defined 2manydjs’ dj sets. Let’s start with a big one.

Back in 2001 Dave and Steph were getting quite popular as ‘The Fucking Dewaele Brothers’, a bit of a joke after being called ‘The Flying Dewaele Brothers’ first. Mind you, that was before they adopted their new name ‘2manydjs’ in 2002.

What made them stand out when they started as dj’s was the fact that they weren’t one of the many techno, dance, drum and bass deejays that were around at the time.  They would mix pop tunes like Michael Jackson’s ‘Wannabe Starting Something’ with more ‘alternative’ dance tracks like Chemical Brothers’ ‘Hey Boy, Hey Girl’.

‘Silver Screen, Shower Scene’ was one of the first tracks from what we would call ‘electroclash’, and one of those tracks that Dave and Steph played to death in their sets when it came out. Of course, on the As Heard On Radio Soulwax Pt 2 record they mashed it up with Bobby’s Orlando’s Megamix.
Funny thing is I only discovered years later that the main feature of the track was sampled from ‘Passion’ by The Flirts.
